Hiiragi Kagami – Tsundere of the Week/Day/Month/Year/Whenever

We’re back! Sorry for the delay, folks – we’ve all been very busy here in Mon0r Land. And to show you just how much we treasure our readers, we have a treat for you. That’s right, starting at this very moment, we’re presenting you guys with a brand new tsundere article (Oh, sweet bejesus).

Above: Psst, Kagami’s the one in the maid uniform. Oh, wait.

If you’ve been an avid fan of anime for a while now, you’ve probably heard of Lucky Star. Why, you might have even watched an episode or two. Whatever the case, you’ve most likely (more like definitely) fallen in love with Hiiragi Kagami, the twin-tailed tsundere with the purple locks. Hold on a second, haven’t I heard of a twin-tailed tsundere before? I’m sure I have. No, it must have been my imagination.

In any case, the Lucky Star anime aired in 2007 following a successful manga run in Kadokawa Shoten’s Comptiq magazine. The four girls in the picture below are the main characters in the show, but we all know which one’s the true – lucky – star don’t we? (I apologize for the lame joke)

Star of the Show

It becomes obvious in the first few minutes of the show who everybody is. Konata is the laid-back, intelligent girl, Miyuki is the ditzy female with glasses, Tsukasa is the sweet and timid side character, and Kagami is the tsukkomi, the straight-man of the gang. But looking at Kagami as nothing more than the punchline is selling her short. What sets her apart from other tsunderes is the fact that there’s no romantic interest in the show. As such, you know the creators of the series were aiming to make her a tsundere straight from the start. And in essence, doesn’t that make her the very embodiment of tsunderes everywhere? No? I must be mistaken then.

But mistaken or not, she’s an interesting character. What other tsundere out there likes to play shooting games or read light novels and manga? Not many, that’s for sure. And what other tsundere out there ever argues with her friends over something as trite as eating chocolate from bread? None. And yes, Lucky Star is a show that heavily draws upon the little things in life, but it does this in a way that makes it interesting. And for you anime fans out there that just can’t enough of tsunderes, there’s plenty of that from Kagami, the tsundere of the week/day/month/year/whenever.

Picture Dump

As always, there’s a cornucopia of pictures for you to look at. Enjoy it, mon0r fans, and keep coming back to this website for more!
