A Certain Magical Index Green-lit for Game Adaptation

ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Bunko imprint has announced that a game adaptation of A Certain Magical Index, Toaru Majutsu no Index, has been green-lit. Guyzware and Namco Bandai Games will be collaborating together on the project with additional details to be released in the 521st issue of Dengeki PlayStation magazine on June 28.

Toaru Majutsu no Index is a Japanese light novel series written by Kazuma Kamachi and illustrated by Kiyotaka Haimura. It was published by ASCII Media Works under their Dengeki Bunko imprint since April 2004. The series was made into a manga which began serialization in Monthly Shonen Gangan from May 2007. A television anime 24-episode was aired between October 2008 and March 2009 followed by a second season which aired in Japan between October 8, 2010 and April 1, 2011. A film adaptation has also been announced.

A side story manga series, A Certain Scientific Railgun began serialization in Dengeki Daioh from March 2007. Seven Seas Entertainment released the manga in North America in June 2011. An original video animation released on October 29, 2010, and FUNimation Entertainment has licensed the first anime season of Index and Railgun.
