League of Legends is an action RTS video game developed and published by Riot Games for Microsoft Windows, inspired by the popular DotA All-Stars map for Warcraft III. It was first announced on October 7, 2008, and released on October 27, 2009. The game was in a closed beta from April 10, 2009, to October 22, 2009. It then transitioned to open beta until release.

Where it can be classified as an RTS it is more commonly referred to as MoBA style game based off its heritage from DoTA.
Where you are not necessarily right, and neither am I, we simply refer to the game by different terms. As such, please don’t challenge my intelligence because it is rude and you did so without a proper source to begin with (Google is not a source, it is a search engine).
I wouldn’t say that it is common at all. That fact that the wikipedia page for such a popular game hasn’t been updated in years shows that(even a discussion in talk about it).
It’s a game which gave itself a new genre despite ARTS being suitable just to throw off the dota stigma.
MoBA was a term coined by Riot themselves to differentiate themselves from DoTA. So instead of telling people to Google, you should do more thorough research and talk to people who actually play the game.
