New Candy Pop Nightmare Manga

Manga creator Hekiru Hikawa, responsible for the manga series Pani Poni, is planning to launch his new manga series edition in the second volume of Monthly Big Gangan magazine. The manga is classified as a “punk-action manga” and the story follows a beautiful but somewhat strange girl, Asuka Yagami, who recently transferred into an academy where whispered rumors speak of a terrifying, mysterious entity known as the “Unknown.” Yagami gets to know other students with independent streaks, and discovers that all is not as it seems at her new school.

Pani Poni, also known as through its anime adaptation Pani Poni Dash!, is a Japanese manga series that uses parody, frequently referencing Japanese and American pop-culture in many ways. It features several first year students and their teachers in a school in Japan, though the main focus is on class 1-C.

Pani Poni first began as a manga series by Hekiru Hikawa which was first serialized in the Japanese manga magazine G Fantasy, published by Square Enix, in November 2000. Later, the series was adapted into a TV anime series which aired in Japan between July 2005 and December 2005 with its title renamed as Pani Poni Dash!. The anime is licensed by FUNimation Entertainment in North America. There has also been several drama CDs created based on the TV series and manga. A special OVA was released with a DVD box set containing the anime series on April 2009 in Japan.

  • Candy Pop Nightmare conjures images of some bright and colorful room filled with somewhat dissonant but happy music and dancing people eating candy. Everyone partying is ignoring the man sitting in the middle of the room screaming in horror.
